In 2005, the Presidents of Mexico, the U.S., and the Prime Minister of Canada, at the behest of 30 corporations, 10 from each country, formed the Security and Prosperity Partnership (SPP). They labeled themselves “NAFTA-Plus”. The SPP operates in total secrecy, much like how Dick Cheney formed the U.S. energy policy. Corporate powers set the agenda, free of input by any other parties, including the public. They’re taking actions right now that directly and adversely affect the human rights, public health, environment, (including global climate change), labor relations and about any other dimension of the lives of everyone in North America. It’s essentially a hidden corporate take over and integration of the countries of North America. “The purpose of government is to create the environment necessary for
business to prosper….The North American Competitiveness Council (NACC
= the 30 corporations mentioned above) will help in that endeavor and
the governments look to the private sector to tell them what needs to
be done.” Democracy is at stake here! We hope our tri-national print portfolio can be a real grass roots effort to show solidarity and spread some awareness of this travesty. The theme is “Pipelines and Borderlines.” We are working to make three shows, one in each country, scheduled at the same time! |
