The New York Society of Etchers is organizing an exhibition of contemporary prints titled THE ART OF DEMOCRACY addressing issues of current social and political interest. We are particularly interested in artwork pertaining to protection of our rights to privacy and free speech; war; torture; politics themselves; global warming; energy; and, terrorism. But in no way is the submission of potentially qualified work confined to one of these categories.

This exhibition event will be an extremely high-profile exhibition event of long lasting cultural and historic significance. The New York Society of Etchers show is one of the anchors in what has grown to be a coalition of events spanning the entire country. A particularly high level of emphasis in selecting work for the show will be on the overall quality of graphic design, technical execution, originality and clarity of artist’s message.

Artists are invited to submit two entries for consideration of inclusion in this unique and exhibition and important event.

All accepted works must be delivered by hand for hanging in the show to The National Arts Club on Saturday morning November 1st, 2008 between the hours of 9:00 AM and 10:30 AM.
