Mark Bryan will be exhibiting giclee
prints. Bryan has become known as a deadly satirist
taking on the villains of the day in surprising and delightful
fashion. He is also known for his whimsical surrealistic pieces that
make comments on human nature, evoke wonder, and ask the big
questions. Mark received his M.F.A. from Otis Art Institute. His work has been widely exhibited and
appeared in many publications and magazines as illustrations and cover art. There will be a preview of his work in the ArtObjectGallery show Art of Democracy: Current Events, September 26 - November 12. Photographer Terri Garland will present images from her recent visits to the Deep South, including the areas ravaged by Hurricane Katrina. These images capture the face of the intrinsic themes of economic oppression, racism, inequality, and long term neglect peculiar to the southern way of life. Terri writes, "Like the ribs of a starving dog, the despair is palpable im many parts of the city. The cross still burns." Joining Terri Garland is fine-art photographer Deborah Mills Thackrey. Her images reveal the textured remains of scrawled upon street objects she has discovered throughout the urban landscape. She will display her works from Graffiti-Woodstock, NY and Urban Petroglyphs. The Art of Democracy is a coalition organized to mobilize artists and galleries across the country to respond to the politics of the last seven years and to inspire a new public spirit. |
