Art of Democracy: Vashon Island, WA

The Two Wall Gallery, Vashon Island, Washington, announces a call for artists everywhere to participate in our show of politically and socially engaged works, “Up Against the Two Wall,” to be exhibited during October of 2008. Artists are invited to submit up to five pieces for consideration. Fewer or individual works are also welcome. The exhibit will be juried, but as many pieces will be chosen as can fit in the available space, and we plan to crowd them in. Any work with a political or social theme can be submitted, regardless of politics, with the idea that the exhibit will mimic an array of campaign or protest signs and posters. Please email images, with framed sizes and a short biography and artist’s statement, to Greg Wessel at SleepingDogCafe at aol.com. If you prefer to submit slides, email him for a mailing address. Submitted works should be received by August 15, 2008. The exhibit will be from October 3 to November 1, with a reception on October 3 from 6 till 9 PM.
